Why Is Physical Health Important? Or Is It?

http://www.mypersonalimprovement.com/dumbbellworkouts.html

Is physical health important? Do we value it as a society? A lot of us say we do. We might even believe it.

But actions speak louder than words.

If physical health is important why do so many people struggle with being more active?

Why are shopping carts loaded with unhealthy food choices?

Hell we now need the government to tell us to eat less salt. I mean come on. As if the politicians are in great physical shape and are the role models we should be looking to for this information.

What is meant by physical health anyway?
health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity

Why do we even care about our weight? Should we care? Or should we just be happy with who we are?

When it comes right down to it weight loss or being "in shape" is really just a vanity thing.

We want to look good so that others notice us. If it were not for that we would just buy bigger sizes when clothes no longer fit.

And of course the media tells us that we have to look a certain way and fit into a certain mold. If it were not for magazines and television you would have no thoughts about looking a certain way. You really wouldn't.

I do believe that physical health is important. Yes I am vain. Yes I want to be noticed. It is a self esteem thing for me. Or a lack of self esteem depending on how you look at it. Always trying to prove myself.

But I do also want to live a long life and not be dependent on others when I am older. I don't really want to have to rely on medications to keep me healthy.

Maybe I'll have grandchildren some day. It would be nice to be able to play with them.

If you are feeling "unhealthy" or you are unhappy with your current state of physical health and fitness then by all means do something about it.

Eat a bit less, move a bit more.

Aim for balance.

Why is physical health important? Just to have a long, healthy, and happy life.

For you and no one else.
